What we study

The Inclusion Index is Kaleidoscope’s national research programme on inclusion and belonging. It brings student, staff and parent/carer perspectives together to explore what people value and whose experience differs.

Percentages and lived experience

Percentages show the balance of recorded answers to a question, with the response base alongside. Comments make experience more concrete. They are selected examples, including mixed and critical accounts; they do not tell us how common a view is.

Bringing the voices together

We examine each source in context before considering connections and differences. The three groups retain their own questions and bases. They are not averaged into one score or assumed to describe the same schools or people.

What readers can conclude

National research describes the programme’s scope. These findings describe participating voices and are not a representative national estimate. They can inform local questions; they do not establish what caused an outcome.
