Navigating AI in Schools: From Anxiety to Confident Practice

As AI becomes part of everyday learning, many teachers and school leaders are grappling with uncertainty around its role in education. Students are increasingly looking to teachers for guidance, yet many schools still lack clear policies and educators often feel underprepared.

This webinar will explore practical ways to build confidence with AI, reduce classroom anxiety, and support responsible use. We'll discuss how to make expectations around AI explicit within subjects and homework tasks, helping pupils understand when AI can support learning and when it risks replacing it.

We'll also examine how teaching pupils about learning, including the value of productive struggle, can help them use AI as a tool for thinking rather than outsourcing it. Finally, we'll consider what this means for teachers themselves, particularly ECTs, and how to balance the benefits of AI with the development of professional expertise.

Key topics:

  • AI anxiety in the classroom

  • Navigating AI when school guidance is unclear

  • Supporting teachers to guide students with confidence

  • Teaching pupils when and how to use AI effectively

  • Productive struggle, learning, and avoiding over-reliance on AI

  • Using AI to enhance, not replace, thinking and expertise

Panelists:
Join a panel of leading experts in AI, education and digital transformation, featuring Dr Nicole Ponsford, Dan Williams, Chris Goodall and Ali Gellett, with Alexandra Tomescu chairing the discussion.
